Katapult Makerspace contracted my brother, Gabe Tiday, and me to create a portable prototype rock climbing experience. Over the course of one month, we prototyped two TouchDesigner climbing experiences: an adaptation of the climbing game Add-On and an audio-reactive silhouette experience.

I was responsible for creating the digital experiences. My brother engineered the wall on the back of the trailer, and we shared the work of wiring the sensors. The sensors used were a Microsoft Kinect 2 and capacitive touch sensors.

I created the Silhouette tracing experience as a fallback experience (given the strict time limitations for our prototyping) and as a way to test projection mapping and Kinect coordination.

The real goal was the creation of a climbing memory game which required capacitive touch sensors to validate that contact was being made with the right holds. The Kinect served as dual validation for the capacitive touch sensors which connected via Arduino.
